The external launch of the Sheffield Institute for Policy Studies took place on June 15th 2016 at Sheffield Hallam University’s, Heart of the Campus. It featured a keynote lecture by the eminent journalist and social commentator – Polly Toynbee, entitled “Our Inequitable Life: Can we make Britain fairer?”
Prior to her lecture, Polly also participated in a question and answer session with doctoral students and early career academics on how research informs policy debate. The other component of the launch event was a series of workshops which focused on four key contemporary policy issues: resilience, devolution, failures of citizenship, and fair access.
